Under trettio år släppte oljebolaget Chevron ut 60 miljarder liter olja i ecuadorianska Amazonas, rakt ner i människors dricksvatten och livsmiljöer. Pablo Fajardo är människorättsjuristen som tog upp kampen mot företaget. För det har han blivit både världsberömd, dödshotad och tilldelats “det gröna nobelpriset” Goldman-priset.

Den 27-29 oktober besöker Pablo Sverige och Jordens Vänner i samband med FN-förhandlingarna om ett bindande avtal för transnationella företag i Geneve.

Jenkins Osalodor är miljöaktivist från Nigeria som efter att ha fängslats och hotats för sitt engagemang mot oljejättarna Shell, Chevron och AGIP tvingades lämna landet. Idag befinner han sig i Sverige och är aktiv i Jordens Vänner. Härifrån fortsätter han sin kamp mot oljebolagens systematiska förtryck, korruption och förödelse.

Under kvällen delar Jenkins och Pablos sina erfarenheter från två helt olika delar av världen – men mot samma företag och med samma konsekvenser. Berättelserna illustrerar oljejättarnas utbredda, systematiska korruption och generationsöverskridande skador.

Vi samtalar om oljebolagens enorma inflytande över beslutsfattare och konsekvenserna det får för de som står upp för människor, miljö och rättvisa. Framför allt ställer vi frågan: vad kan vi göra?

Welcome to an inspiring conversation with two people who, in different ways, stand on the front line in the fight against the biggest oil giants – and who, despite the consequences it has had on their lives, continue the struggle.

We discuss the enormous influence oil companies have over decision-makers and the consequences this brings for those who stand up for the people, the environment, and justice. Above all, we ask the question: what can we do?

For thirty years, the oil company Chevron dumped 60 billion liters of oil into the Ecuadorian Amazon—directly into people’s drinking water and living environments. Pablo Fajardo is the human rights lawyer who took up the fight against the company. For this, he has become world-renowned, received death threats, and been awarded the “Green Nobel Prize” – the Goldman Award.

Jenkins Osalodor is an environmental activist from Nigeria who, after being imprisoned and threatened for his resistance against oil giants Shell, Chevron, and AGIP, was forced to leave the country. Today he lives in Sweden and is a member of Jordens Vänner. From here, he continues his struggle against the oil companies’ systematic oppression och corruption.

During the evening, Jenkins and Pablo will share their experiences from two very different parts of the world – but against the same companies and faced with the same consequences. Their stories illustrate the widespread, systematic corruption of the oil giants and the enormous threat they pose to democracy, the environment and human rights.
